    Here were the interview questions for the ASAP lab answered by Monica…

    1. What services do you offer to Students at CSUMB?

    ASAP is the tutoring center on campus. We provide tutoring in:
    Languages (ASL, Japanese, Spanish)
    Mathematics (including Statistics and some Business courses)
    Sciences (including KIN, STAT 250, Psychology)
    Technology
    Writing

    We also offer some midterm and final review sessions. Students may inquire at ASAP for more information.


    2. How can students who want to become an ASAP tutor get involved?
    Students who are interested in becoming an ASAP tutor may search for job postings at: http://career.csumb.edu/otterjobs


    3. Is there a certain time obligation a student has to stay for ASAP tutoring?

    Tutoring sessions are usually 50 minutes in length. However, if they do not feel they need the entire session, they may communicate this to their tutor.


    4.How can ASAP benefit freshman here at CSUMB?

    ASAP can be beneficial for all freshman at CSUMB. Students may come in for tutoring to either maintain a good grade in a course or to answer questions they may have about certain subjects/problems. We serve students who maintain a good grade point average as well as those who feel they are falling behind.
     


    5. If a student has questions about ASAP what is the best way to contanct a tutor?

    If students have general questions about ASAP, they may call us at 831-582-4104, email asap@csumb.edu or stop by our office on the 2nd floor of the library. If students wish to schedule appointments, they may go to: https://csumb.mywconline.com/. If it is their first visit, they will first need to “click here” to register.


    6. Does a student have to set up an appointment or can they simply walk in?

    We recommend scheduling an appointment ahead of time to make sure a tutor is available to meet with a student. If a student walks in, we’ll check out tutor schedule to see if anyone is available to meet with them, and if not, we’ll offer the next available appointment.
     


    7. Where is the ASAP lab located?

    ASAP is located on the 2nd floor (room 2125) of the Tanimura & Antle Library.


    8.Is ASAP a free service for students?

    Yes. ASAP services are free for all CSUMB students. 


    9.If you could give advice to a student about ASAP what would it be?

    Take advantage of your free resources! Our staff is very friendly, so please do not hesitate in contacting us!


    10. Does a student have to have experience to become an ASAP tutor?

    Students who wish to apply to become a tutor should have already taken the course they plan to tutor. They will also need letters of recommendations. For more information, students may view job descriptions at:  http://career.csumb.edu/otterjobs

     
    11. What are the main advantages for a student to attend ASAP tutoring?

    We serve students at different levels, those who feel they are falling behind as well as those who understand the material and wish to excel in their course. At whatever level the student may be at, they may benefit from visiting ASAP. The best part of all, is that ASAP is a free service to CSUMB Students!
